A kid on a banana-seat bike outside Athens Restaurant on avenue Walton at dusk, Pointe-Claire, Quebec, 1989.

Athens Restaurant stood at 102 avenue Walton for 46 years.

It's being rebuilt β€” the storefront, the block, the streets around it β€” as Pointe-Claire was in 1989. You ride a bike through it and deliver pizza before the streetlights come on.

The buildings and addresses come from the 1989 street directory. The rest comes from people who were there.

Tell me about Athens

Everyone who went there has a story β€” about George, about Peter at the door, about sitting in a booth for three hours over one Coke. Those are the things no archive has, and they're what I'm collecting.

I read everything before any of it goes anywhere, and nothing is published without that. Leave your name off if you'd rather.

Other things I'm looking for

Photographs of Athens, inside or out. The Braebrook plaza. The RC track in the Pointe-Claire Plaza parking lot. Anything of the neighbourhood in the seventies and eighties. If you have some, put a note in the box above and I'll get in touch.

And if something in the game is wrong β€” your old house on the wrong side of the street, a shop that was never there β€” I want to hear that too. Most of it will be wrong somewhere.

Want to know when you can play it?

Leave your email in the box above and say so. That's the whole mailing list.
